In 2017 I started writing a story titled My Valentine. Here we are 17 years later with the final story now titled The Apostasy.
This dark fantasy romance takes place a few years before Leah’s does in the Revelation series. This novel is a little bit grittier than Revelation so if you’re curious about my writing style I recommend looking at reviews and starting with After the Bees. In addition, although The Apostasy is book I of II in a prequel duo logy, the best reading order is: After the Bees > Through High Waters > The Apostasy > Book II > Revelation III. (The last two are in the works!)
BLURB:
Ezra Hollen has felt death’s presence her entire life. But, when it comes to her in the form of an angel, she refuses to go down without a fight. It’s not until her scream calls to something darker that she realizes there are things worse than death. And her rescuer is not exactly a savior, as he takes her to the depths of Tartarus. There Ezra learns the truth of who she really is and why she has been targeted.
Valen is an amorini, a hunter, a fallen angel. When Ezra’s scream wrenches him into the mortal world, he is struck by the force of her power no mortal, much less a woman, should be able to wield. A power so dangerous, it just might be what Tartarus needs to force Heaven’s hand. Torn between using her as a weapon and keeping her safe from harm, Valen must weigh the value of Ezra’s life.
As the costs against Ezra rise, she discovers that sometimes the line between good and evil is cut from the same cloth. And, without Valen, there will be no stop to the war and bloodshed that lays on the horizon.
It is with great pleasure that I finally present the cover to you, created by none other than the incredible India Lee. India fashioned my covers for After the Bees and Through High Waters, but I truly think The Apostasy takes the crown. The detail in which she puts into every piece is truly stunning. India was one of the first to read The Apostasy and was able to pull out key elements of the story to give readers a visual.
Ezra Hollen is stunning. She is described as having the typical angelic beauty but mortals would think she is “odd” in appearance. Still attractive, but there is something slightly off about her. India captures her perfectly- and I mean perfectly!
Every time I look at this image it is like the first reveal. I want to scream and kick my feet! I am IN LOVE!
The Apostasy was the first story I ever wrote and to finally have it brought to life means everything to me. There are occasions where I still get teary-eyed looking at Ezra.
The Apostasy is currently in the hands of beta readers and has started its next round of edits. ARC readers are welcome to apply. At this time I am aiming for a release date of February 14, 2024. In order to make that happen I need to make sure I have everything ready to go and a decent following. If you think someone might be interested in this book, please direct them to my Goodreads and Kickstarter below.
You can now add The Apostasy on Goodreads here. And you can start reading the first two chapters by visiting my homepage.
Want to know when pre-orders will launch? Follow the Kickstarter page here to be the first to know when we go live! We have a lot of exciting goodies in story for this project that you won’t want to miss.
Stay golden, readers. I’ll write to you soon.
